Serbia has ideal conditions for growing plums. First of all, the soil has very good characteristics for growing plums - favourable latitude and appropriate sea level. It is accompanied by enough sunlight, warmth, humidity and good wind, which makes Serbia one of the most favourable places for growing plums in the world.
Domestic types of plums grown in Serbia (prunus domestica) are: pozegaca, crvena ranka, cacanska lepotica i cacanska rodna. One of the most famous brandy types is plum brandy. Ripe plums (without stones) are kept in a closed container from 14 to 21 days at temperature between 20 and 25 ْ C. At times the lid is removed in order to add extra oxygen, which brings about fermantation which is later followed by distillation. Plum brandy is Serbian national drink. Serbian plum brandy, according to its taste and organic compounds, is one of the best drinks in the world.
